Lifeguard Charged After Saving Boy's Life.

Depending where you are the pay can be very good. I work for a local council pool in Australia and the pay is very good. I've been on $30.70/hour this year at 19, I started on about $24 as a 16 year old. It's easily the best pay that anyone can be on in high school where I am.

However we are warned at meetings that criminal negligence is a thing, and if someone does die because of something on your behalf (either a drowning or something different like leaving the chemical sheds unlocked) then you will have to face a coroners court. However you probably won't be charged and this is extremely rare, you'll only be there to explain. I mean I've been there nearly 4 years and I've done been in one serious first aid situation, I've never had to jump in for an emergency, and I've never had to evacuate the centre.
