In light of the Matt Murray trade, when was a time your team made a horrible trade, signing, draft choice (one that was widely acclaimed to be horrible) that ended up working out?

They sold high on Demelo. If the Senators re-signed Demelo to a 4 year 3M AAV contract, he would be among the many contracts they are attempting to get out of this off season.

He was really good for Winnipeg down the stretch when they acquired him, but then he regressed. There is a big difference in dynamic when he is signed to a 900k AAV contract and overplaying his talent level, and then signed to a 3M AAV contract and expected to be a #4 defenseman.

He personifies the Karlsson trade, because he is a throw in, who nobody thought was worth anything, who ended up being worth way more than he should have. After he went unqualified by San Jose, the Senators got two solid seasons out of him, and a 3rd round pick in a trade.
