Looking to get into Warmahordes - Questions about strategy

That's a lot more clear, actually.

You can do exactly those kinds of things in Warmachine. For example, say your opponent did like you said, put a big wall of meat in front of a super heavy target just sitting on the objective. Possible things you might do to those models: pick some up and throw them out of the way, jump over them, turn into a fuggin spirit and walk through them, fly over them, teleport past them, walk around them, cause the earth to erupt which moves them all whatever way you want, drop them into a whole and shoot past them, and on and on.

Thing is, sure, they might be difficult to move off the objective, but you can always try to kill their warcaster instead (since if their caster dies, they lose).

To give you an idea, in a game I played recently, I had a really squishy caster, but I moved her up with a bunch of infantry around her to get more points from the scenario (some scenarios let you get double points for controlling objectives with your caster). This was pretty risky, as my opponent would probably be able to chew through my infantry before I got enough control points to win. However, if they came after my infantry, they would allow my flanking cavalry free reign to run around and wipe out their caster. He chose to send a smaller part of his force to contest the objective, while the larger part of his force moved to face my cavalry. I lost my cavalry, and he lost the part of his force contesting the objective. I actually ended up losing to some very lucky rolls on his part, but it was an incredibly tense game with a lot of risky maneuvering. And really, that's a pretty serious oversimplification of what was going on in that game. There were spells being slung about, hail-mary's with models trying to do things they don't normally do, and the use of once per game abilities called "feats" that literally made our warcasters immune to several different kinds of damage for a round.

It's absolutely not just two people mushing their armies together and rolling dice to see which one mushes harder.
