Love or Hate Legion, We can all agree WoW is moving leaps and bounds in the right direction again.

Honestly, the whole "too much to do" bit always bugged me. People were jacking each other at launch all over that bit. But as someone with an attention problem, it's not just that there is too much to do - it's that it is all essentially the same exact thing with different shades of makeup applied. They focus so much on questing, that the gameplay has entirely been go do dailies for like.. ever. I want them to really work on tradeskills. Give me something to do that isn't a fucking quest. Make fishing actually worth bothering with rather than a cool legendary that you get bored of real quick. Make cooking more than just grinding a table and that's it. Etc. etc.

This is what other games coming out now that are MMO-like have over WoW I feel. The one I have the most experience with, FFXIV, has multiple end-games you can go for. A lot of people do trader characters and just focus on tradeskills which all have neat systems to figure out. Some people just like going fishing in random spots in the world, listening to chill music and just sitting there. It's a way to earn money and just relax. There are various activities to do throughout the world that offer set rewards like FATEs, hunts, Triple Triad, chocobo racing, all the mini-games in gold saucer. If you like quest hunting, of course there are the dailies with different factions you can work on. There is the weapon grind for relics. Constant events that last for a couple weeks (and not this 2 day whatever bullshit Blizzard seems to be doing now to encourage quick subs). PvP is there and has its own unique weird flavor that hasn't been run around the pillar for the past 10 fucking years. You have challenge logs which encourage doing different activites like sight-seeing, using the reward system from dungeons, doing daily crafts, etc. It's just so absolutely fleshed out to make sure everyone has something to do, including non-raiders.

WoW just doesn't have that level of commitment towards everyone. It just focuses on raiders, and giving long RNG grinds. It's still a fun game, but it lost its luster to me and everyone I know a long time ago. We still come back here and there, but nothing ever actually keeps us playing it for longer than that one month sub until a patch drops.
