LPT: On death row? Ask for a McDonald’s ice cream as your last meal, they’ll never find a working machine and you’ll get to live.

Ha. Yeah, we get things like that a lot, especially if you're ever doing things in people's houses despite not being hired by them. Oh, you're an electrician can you take a look at this, or give me a price on that etc etc.

I had a good encounter just the other day though in a different vane - Ok, so this is a up market kinda small semi resort hotel place, one of my colleagues had just done a service on one of the industrial dryers there and I get a call some 20 hours later of a smell of gas. That's not the bad part, the bad part was the laundry staff noticed it that afternoon, they didn't report it to anyone till the next morning, and this isn't in some out of the way part of the building, it's on the basement level effectively underground and lacking venting besides the largely sealed machine vents... like if you want your workplace to not be there in the morning that might be an option :P. Thankfully nothing happened, but you'd have to wonder - because that's exactly how you might see 'explosion at hotel' on the news.
