LPT: Staying warm and fashionable this winter (Advice from a Canadian).

None of these outfits are suitable for winter weather, they are just the standard Pinterest/blog pics that don't actually work in the real world.

Actually I dress like many of those outfits most of the winter. Obviously, as the top of my post stated, those outfits aren't really for extended periods of time in extremely cold weather (anything below -20C with wind), but yes, with proper layering, they really do work.

Can we please stop pretending that thigh high suede boots with 3" heels are suitable winter shoes

The ones I linked were ankle-high fleece-lined waterproof suede boots with a 2" wedge (UGG). I've been wearing them almost everyday for the last 2 winters and all cold wet days. They're phenomenal.

Also, can we stop pretending that throwing a moto jacket and scarf over a flimsey cotton dress is seasonally appropriate in cold climates?

Did you even read my post?

Yesterday, it was 25 degrees with a 22mph wind. A mini skirt, fleece tights, and a field jacket is not going to keep you warm.

-3C isn't that cold, but with 40km/hr wind, the wind chill would make it closer to -10C, but I would still wear most of those outfits (with proper long underwear layers) in that weather, I just modify my behaviour to accommodate it. And regardless, I find a pair of fleece-lined tights warmer than most pants anyway.
