LPT: Whatever a military recruiter says get everything in writing on your enlistment contract before you sign.

on second thought, the contracts don't even matter. The military will do whatever they want and there isn't much you can do about it.

Example time!

I had a friend who joined the military. He signed up for 2 6 month active duty deployment in the middle east and then he would no longer be deployed. I can't remember his exact title. he did his 2 tours and then the military told him they would like him to do a 3rd tour. of course he has every right to say no, and they will accept his answer of no, but it just so happens if he says no, he will be relocated to Alaska! well, he is married and doesn't feel like being deployed for 6 more months so he and his wife move to Alaska. less than a year later he is approached again for another 6 month tour. Once again he has every right to turn them down, but turning them down will just to happen to mean he is relocated to Georgia! Why? no particular reason, just like Alaska. Of course he turns down the deployment again and the uproot his and his wife's lives again. After that he gets out and goes back to nursing school.
