i want to just add this here so it gets seen. the post looks like a common scam to get donations. if you guys really want to help, offer to ship them a microwave, food and other stuff that cant really be resold and they will probably say no, because they want cash.

the thing that rasied a red flag is the apartment. a 19yo with a part time retail job doesnt just get an apartment. you usually need to make 20x to 40x times the rent to be able to sign the lease. its 40x the rent in nyc. i know that for a fact because it was a crazy struggle to get my first apartment. savings does not matter, you need verifiable income to sign that lease. i already see this post heading towards 1k upvotes. basically dont donate cash. i hate when people get free cash when i struggle for every dollar i make.
