I’m a former Loss Prevention Detective/Security guard at Macy’s AMA

I have a question for you as well. My youngest daughter had stolen something from Macy’s quite awhile ago and she felt super guilty so she had told me what had happened. She was in the store with her boyfriend and baby girl and was dressed normal, it was pretty easy to identify her. She said she stole some outfits for her daughter while in the fitting room but had covered them under clothes for her self laying on top of a stroller. Is it possible that she will later be caught? She said she had done it on the way into the mall and then went shopping in the mall after, when she came back and exited through Macy’s by the time she had gotten to the elevator area to go back down to where she had parked she passed another woman in the elevator doorway when an alarm went off and the intercom called “code 10”. She got out just fine and went home she said, but she was super guilty but was too nervous to go back in and give it back so she just went home and can’t stop worrying about it. I feel bad for her but she should of never done it. Could she potentially get in trouble if that code 10 was for her? She had taken in a lot of items (but were covered like I said) concealed some In her bag and then took three adult shirts and 2 hanged outfits and hung them up randomly somewhere in the store with a few empty hangers sandwiched between the full hangers o they couldn’t see her putting back empty outfits. What does code 10 mean? Did they see her? Is that an LP CODE? she has a baby and really is a good momma so I’m hoping one stupid decision doesn’t get her in trouble. Thanks in advance!
