I appreciate humor, honesty, and passion in that first response. I really want a sense of who you are (or who you are pretending to be).

Occasionally I will indicate in my prompt that I am looking for a certain body type, and I appreciate it when responders verify (even if it's a lie) that they fit the description. And I guess I'm one of the few women on dpp who doesn't mind pictures (as long as they accompany a great response).

I typically enjoy getting to know someone a bit before engaging in any sort of role play, so I don't mind a typical resume-like response to the applicable prompts.

Occasionally, I will post something urgent, and in those cases I prefer a response that gives me some idea of how the responder is going to play along with me.

For example, I occasionally post for a good give and take hate fuck. A response that does very little for me would be something like, "I want to fucking tear you to bits, bitch." That tells me very little about the responder other than the fact that they want to physically hurt me.

A much more interesting response might be something like, "It has been a stressful week, and I like things rough, so let's take our frustrations out on each other. I'm 6'5" and very strong, but I'll make sure you get what you need." This lets me know that the responder understands what I'm looking for (a hate fuck, not just abuse), that they want the same thing, a bit about how they look (particularly as it applies to the prompt - a tall, strong man is going to provide more of a physical challenge than someone shorter and weaker than myself), and that it isn't just about them.

I usually start chatting with people who respond quickly, so a long, flowery response may not catch my attention in time. Having said that, there have been occasions when someone responded very late in the game and I told them that I was already engaged, but that I really liked their response. In these cases, I will let them know that I would love to chat with them at a later time, and I leave the ball in their court. I have met some really lovely people this way.

I think that we are all here for different reasons; some want to work on their writing skills, some want to explore their sexuality, some want to collaborate on a good story, etc. Because of that, I think that we are all looking for different things in that first response. These are just my preferences.
