Missouri High School Student Found With Gun and Ammunition, Intentions Unknown

I guess that's just a fundamental difference. I agree people should have the right to know, and I believe that we should have complete transparency with all legal documents accessible as a public citizen. However, I believe that the "default view" should what is best for the public to know. If a kid asks about Santa genuinely, we tell them of course, but that doesn't mean we should ruin the enjoyable time they are having. Our reality is our mental state, and in the exact same way that placebos work, our happiness and well being is determined by what we tell ourselves.

If you want to bring up the utilitarian card, I suppose I would rather have a higher utility, while still maintaining everyones rights, yes. I don't think you need to compromise "utility" and "rights", they aren't mutually exclusive.
