My friends made me a box of these pierogi last night actually, and I didn’t mention the pierogies thing but I really wanted to. I had a whole internal debate over it too.

“They’re more slavic than you, their mom is from Ukraine and their dad is from Russia and they’re better at speaking both those languages than you are at Polish,”

“Yeah, but Poland isn’t anywhere on that list, and you speak some [admittedly questionable] Polish, so you win in the realm of pierogi”

“But you sent them a Polish dress this morning and asked if you should buy it because you thought it looked nice, so they’ll think you’re obsessed.”

“But pierogies is the wrong word.”

“Do you really want to risk their opinions of you over this? They’ll think you’re fetishizing Poland”

“Now that’s insane, no they won’t,”

“You’re a stupid American leeching off your dad’s identity. Don’t bring it up.”

So, I ended up not bringing it up. If anyone would like a rating of how they tasted, 5.5/10. I don’t know, most of them fell apart in the pot, and they were very hard to eat, but they were okay I guess? Like definitely weird, but I wasn’t gonna turn down a chance to eat pierogi.
