Some things that I recently watched that made me depressed:

-The Celebration - it made me think everyone has some sort of deep dark secret that their hiding and that we’re all horrible people underneath

-Sound of Metal - this guy starts losing his hearing, has to completely cut himself off from his life to live in a commune, then when he tries to get back what he had to leave, he realizes there’s nothing there anymore. This made me feel so empty. As someone who is currently struggling against the difficulties of making their passions a reality, it was just not something I needed to hear. I was shocked that more people didn’t feel this way and that some people were saying it was an uplifting movie.

-tick, tick, Boom - basically any movie that glorifies “making it” as the be all and end all of being an artist. Like 99.99% of artists will never be rich or famous. There’s gotta more to art than those things otherwise we’re looking at a ton of failures.
