Oldboy (2013) Cinematic purists deride American Oldboy as they claim this action drama cannot compare to the Korean original. What I saw is a decent enough movie paced well and blessed with Elizabeth Olsen's fine acting.

I mean, I tried to judge the film without taking into account the enormous weight it has in comparison with the original one. I ask you a question, but you have to answer it with a strong argument about it. How many American remakes of foreign films stand on their own feet if stripped of the originality that made the original one iconic? This Spike movie, if taken out of the original's shadow is still a decent movie for those who have never seen the original. It would have been too easy to make a review by only putting the comparison with the original one under the magnifying glass, I tried to divide the two things.

Maybe i wrong in this kind of vision, but sometimes we have to go beyond certain obviousities of form and content.
