N.M. GOP leader blames 'leftist protesters' after Virginia attack

pure blooded white

Let's explore that a moment, shall we? Depending on the records, my family came over to America in 1706 or 1698. We've been here since before the United States existed. We fought for the North during the Civil War. A US general bearing my family name actually sacked and burnt the city I was born in.

Like most American Euromutts, I can trace my lineage back to notables like William the Conqueror or one of Robert the Bruce's retainers.

I'm about as white and as American as it's possible for anyone to be...

... except I'm not, and I know it.

My family is American, Irish, Scottish, English, German, Polish, Cherokee, and African American. We've got Catholics, Protestants, Episcopals, Methodists, Baptists, Moravians, agnostics, and atheists. And those are just the ones I know about. My family has a tendency to spread, so I'm generally not surprised when I'm travelling somewhere and I bump into somebody who shares my last name. We get everywhere.

There is no such thing as a 'pure blooded white' America. Stick around here long enough and someone's going to intermarry with someone else, and that's okay. We're not supposed to say 'Eh, we'll take these people but not these people.' That's not how America works.

America works because we take hard working people who came here to make their lives a little better, and we're strongest when we pull together and get things done. Whether that's putting the boot to slavery or kicking the snot out of Nazi Germany, Americans work hard and we get things done. We do it together, because that's the American Way.
