I’d like to get back into desktop gaming and build a PC that’s ready for a VR headset when they ship later this year. The last computer I built was an old Core 2 Duo HTPC shoved into a broken NES case, so I’m looking forward to this build being a bit more straightforward, despite the small size of the NCASE M1.
I waffled a bit on which coolers to use. I like the low temps and straightforward heat management that AIO coolers like the Corsair H75[17] and EVGA 980 Ti Hybrid[18] offer, but I’ve seen a lot of reports online about issues with annoying pump noises. In the end I decided to go with the Noctua NH-C14 air cooler since it’s top-down form factor can take advantage of the two NF-F12 intake fans on the side of the case. I was going to stick with the suggested reference style blower for the 980 Ti, but ended up going with the ACX model since it stays quiet and spins down its fans fully when at low temperatures. I’m still trying to make up my mind whether or not I want to stick another pair of F12s on the bottom of the case as intake for the GPU.
I realize this build is a bit overkill, but I’ve got some money saved up and don’t intend to open this machine much once it’s been built. I’d like the specs to have some longevity to them. It’s been a while since I’ve looked into the PC building scene, so I’d greatly appreciate if someone could spot check my work and make sure I didn’t do something idiotic with my Mobo/RAM/SSD choices. Thanks!
