"We need to evaluate what happened here" (Texas AD)

I don't have a horse in this race but just a couple of thoughts:

I know Herman is the hot name but his resume isn't light years better then Strong's was when he was hired. Both won NC as coordinators and turned smaller, non-traditional football schools into high ranked teams that won top tier bowls. I would say Herman's resume is better but I really don't think he's a "once in a lifetime" coach. Also, what's plan B if you can't get Herman?

Dantonio was 22-17 after his first three years at MSU (and had just suspended 15 players for a bowl game because of a fight). Sometimes turning around a program can take more then a few years. I don't think firing coaches every 2-3 years will bring your program success.

All that being said, I haven't followed Texas all that closely while strong has been their and don't know the state of the program is. The right choice my be to fire him and move on.

I do think if your going to decide the future of your program you don't want to make it in the middle of a season unless you're sure of what your doing.
