New Zealand reports 29 new coronavirus cases, 1239 cases total

As a Kiwi it feels great but it's hard to say what life will be like after the level 4 lock down. No way will it be business as usual. I don't think schools will reopen for a while - the government is setting up two TV channels for at home schooling, as well as distributing teaching materials and thousands of laptops & modems are on their way for students who need them (government is paying for internet connections). Social distancing will still be the norm and I think businesses will only gradually come back and will need to prove what measures they're taking to protect people and facilitate contact tracing if needed.

As for the economy. Tourism was 6% of GDP, that's now gone and lots of businesses wont recover. It sounds like the government are going to spend large on infrastructure, but replacing the big holes in our economy will be a problem. It could be foreign firms might want to set up in NZ to protect "high value" people and supply chains until a vaccine is available (and if the government let them come), but who knows? The world is pretty unpredictable at the moment.

Speaking personally, my heart goes out to everyone suffering overseas. It's a terrible time for the world. I hope we can help each other through it.
