The next big counterculture movement will probably be kids who reject all forms of social media

36 here, absolutely.

Originally myspace and such was kind of fun, but when Facebook and other 2.0 social media stuff started up it became more serious and oppressive. Companies started doing their hiring based on your social media presence. They really amped up the "digital crack for your mind" angle while selling your personal data to the highest bidder on the other side.

Ive been an IT guy for a decade and lately going into software development, and overall this has made my hyper-aware of how bullshit this all is to the point I love the tech stuff but I am absolutely rejecting it at the same time in my personal life and have become increasingly paranoid about my privacy.
