[Nomos] How Nomos keeps prices low

Everything they make looks cheap. I very much prefer minimalist designs. Those brands put a lot of fancy details and ornamentation on their watches that I strongly dislike. Not one make a clean looking watch that is everything you need and nothing you don't.

For an example of my tastes, I wear a Sinn 656 almost every day. I love everything about the 656. Highly legible, excellent case, zero fuss, and a strong ETA 2824 inside. I have mine on a NATO, just like in the photo (not my photo). For nice events, I wear a steel Ventura V-Matic. Also an incredible watch with very little decoration. It has a chronometer grade ETA 2824 which is a fine movement. My next purchase will be a Rolex Datejust 16014. I've come around on the Jubilee bracelet, fluted bezel and cyclops lens. I didn't like them, but I do now. I think this is a clean design with some of Rolex's trademark designs. Finally, I like most of what Nomos produces, though I'm not sure if I'll buy one. The 656, V-Matic and a Datejust would cover everything. Of course, that could change, but it'd probably be several years out.

Anyhow, I would be interested in one of those brands if they produced a clean, functional watch with a minimum of decoration. Everything they make is overdone, which I think looks cheap. Oh, one other manufacturer that "gets" this is Timex. You can buy a very tasteful and well made Timex for $40 or $50. I've been meaning to pick one up, too. I especially like the Weekender models and I'd put one on a colorful NATO for some fun. So that will probably be it for me: a nice Datejust and a Weekender, some time in the next six months.
