Is it normal operating procedure for Domino's Pizza or other restaurants to sell police uniforms for sting operations?

I just ask because I was in Dominos pizza in Walnut Creek California in Feb to pick up a pizza, and a cop started walking towards the store with a Dominos uniform and hat in his hands. I was breaking my brain trying to figure out why he was doing this. Did a driver die? But why would he be naked and the uniform returned? Same if he were in jail. I couldn't figure it out.

Long story boring, this Walnut Creek police officer in a police SUV returned the uniform and thanked the current manager for letting them borrow it. At this point I started paying attention to at least some details, though I couldn't see the officer's name without looking very suspicious. The manager was Nicole. He then told her the operation was successful and they wanted to 'buy more uniforms'!! What the hell?

So, here I am in a Dominos to pick up a pizza, and I find out the police department is borrowing uniforms for sting operations? She then says she has to call her district manager. When the officer left, I overheard her talking to a driver and she said to him that she was contacting the district supervisor because she wanted to leave the manager out of it so he didn't get in any trouble. Out of what? Trouble for what? If this was trouble, why are you doing it?

At this point, I became very concerned. For one, do Dominos do this as standard procedure across the country? Doesn't this put the driver's lives at risk? For example, if the street thugs find out Domino's is working with the police, won't that make targets of drivers to make a statement?

Also, isn't this entrapment, or if not, at the very least very grey legally? Does corporate Domino's sanction this?

So I decided to check into it more. I stayed around the area, and I talked to one of their drivers later that night when I saw them, and they said that Mark, the district supervisor, offered to give the PD that uniform free (and this driver believed possibly more)!

I am not a criminal, but as a citizen, this is truly disturbing on so many levels. The police are running sting operations, and they are using Domino's uniforms to do it? How many other companies do they pose as?

So, I am just writing here to find out. Is this normal? Do all of your Dominos (or other stores) supply uniforms to the police so that they can hide their identity and arrest people in a very scary, legally grey, and potentially harmful manner?

is this something that Dominos corporate just does and customers just aren't aware of it?

Clearly this is a throwaway, but I swear on my life that it is true, and I wish I had more details. I've put off making this post for 2 months, because it basically scares the hell out of me that I am outing the cops where I live.
