I was in a 6 year relationship with a heroine addict. He promised over and over he would quit and when I left it because I no longer believed him he didn't even care. He didn't apologize, even after the years of neglect, sucking money out of my veins and all the effort I put into building a life.

The first thing to realize is that it has nothing to do with you. Your first thoughts are "oh he/she didn't love me enough to quit." It's about the drugs.
