Not trying to be a Greg sympathizer, but don’t forget that Ewan is a massive tool

Given what we know about Waystar's ownership and, uh, fraught investor relations, it's very likely that divesting is the last thing Logan would have wanted Ewan to do.

Said differently, Logan wants/needs votes (and board seats) that he can reliably predict, and Ewan holding on to those shares (and the seat) could be seen as Ewan doing Logan a favor.

Until the attempted ouster, we also don't know how engaged Ewan really was as a Board member, although we can generally infer that Waystar directors' oversight is, uh, an actual horror story of negligence.

But we've seen how Logan and Ewan spar: Ewan raises a valid concern, Logan argues it back (and more charismatically). Replay those types of arguments in front of the Board, and if you're a Board member, you might think, "OK, CEO challenged with topical item, box checked, if my conscience ever asks, I can say we discussed it, we're good, let's move on." Lazy board members think like this. And because corporate boards are their own web of intrigue, this kind of theater would very plausibly be enough to get by on.

So imagine you're Ewan with your big vocabulary, and maybe at some point -- maybe even a decade ago -- you realize you didn't just create the monster, you made him stronger.
