The actors dont really talk about anything

Hm, am I the only one who disagrees with this? I feel like the dialogue in Succession is specifically written in a way to expunge your typical corporate/professional jargon and overcompensates by leaning super-far in the other direction -- hence all the swearing, etc, so they can make their point as plainly and simply as possible. I mean it's chock-full of metaphors so not actually that direct, but in many ways it's a lot more direct than what you'd normally get in a corporate boardroom. I'd also disagree with other comments and say that Succession became uniquely popular among business-focused shows partly because it's so fkin good but also specifically because it steered away from super-businessy jargon and focused heavily on family and relationship dynamics, themes of siblinghood and parenting etc, as opposed to just corporate stuff. And yeah, as much as I dislike the characters I'm pretty sure they all understand very well what a merger is.

I wouldn't say that the characters don't talk about anything, but I do think that whenever a character says something they usually mean something else, and sometimes when I watch I'll have to translate what they're saying into my head into normal English so I understand it. But that doesn't mean they're not saying anything concrete.
