[NSFW] Take a look at what happens when a suicidal man commits 'suicide by cop' with a knife

People also survive gunshots. A LOT. But that doesn't mean cops are going to take precautionary actions against people aiming guns at them because, "Well, I could survive it...."

Guns are a totally different story. A knife is less dangerous than a bat to the head. A pair of fist might even be as dangerous statistically speaking, because if you get KOed and crack your head on the pavement you might actually die (I've seen that happen).

How is that dumb? What if he ran away and this guy decided to run out the back of his house. Now you have a man who's ran away, obviously unstable, and wielding a knife. What if that man goes to the next house over and slits the neighbor's throat? Who's fault is it then?

If only the world was black and white, it would be so much easier, huh?

Ofc I'm not saying he should run away, what I'm saying is there was plenty of space to move and he could have retreated at the same pace as the guy to keep a safe distance between them. The guy wasn't even taking full steps but half steps.

You can't think of situations like this so straight forward, especially in the moment like that. It's easy to sit back in our chairs and think of better ways to handle it, but the fact is that there are a million of different ways that could of played out.

Yeah well I've actually been in these types of situation and you're the one sitting in your couch making dumb assumptions. That was not a particularly threatening situation for the cop and he either wanted to shoot someone or he panicked and disconnected his brain, it's as simple as that. Again, these types of situations happens I would guess millions of times every week in bars around the world, you'd think a cop would be more competent than some guy that got hired because he lifts or has taken a few karate classes ffs.

And a video for your education as well.

Well thanks for proving my point. The only bit that's relevant to this discussion is where the cop already has his gun drawn 10 ft away. And what do you know, he guns the guy down. He did not need to preemptively shoot him before he actually made his move.
