I’m sure their credentials will be great comfort to the families of those young people in ICU. They got it wrong. The risk of covid was always greater than the risk of clotting. They made their advice on the false assumption Australia would remain relatively covid free.

AZ could be manufactured locally in massive quantities, can be transported and handled much easier and there was no indication of the TTS risk until this year. Everybody would have chosen AZ last year.

Australia was also initially low on the list for Pfizer because almost every other country had significantly higher death rates. Why should Australia have got doses of Pfizer sooner when there were thousands dying daily overseas?
