I was close with an older cousin of mine when I was a high schooler. I grew up with the guy in some ways, and traveled up to Canada for his wedding. Afterwards, we kinda lost contact and I just assumed his new family life had become too busy, and that's what I heard from my parents as well.

Several years later I was in Canada again to visit this cousin's sister and fiancé, when I suddenly brought up my cousin's name. I asked what he had been up to all this time and why I hadn't heard from him and they finally told me.

Turns out he may have been involved in gang activity, or was hanging out with a bad crowd. He completely disappeared years ago, and is assumed to be dead at this point. The car he was driving and his body were never found. Real scary shit.
