One in four registered nurses in Saskatchewan, Canada, have considered quitting

“The entire system where she works is in chaos.”

Story of my life.

“This isn’t about them just being unhappy at work, this is about them seeing that their professional practice is really being put at risk and what we see then is that translates into patient care being unintentionally being put at risk and that is not what the patients and the families of this province deserve,”

I saw this exact same thing. I worked at a nonprofit where I was 1 nurse in charge of 40-50 patients who were way too sick to be there, and I did not feel safe at all. My boss would constantly give me bullshit advice like "prioritize" but how are you supposed to do your job when the emergency events you face take up the whole day. For example, in a common day I would deal with complaints of severe chest pain, a blood glucose of 750 (D:) from a client who refuses to go to the ER, violent/ combative patients, and a med pass that takes at least 1 hour? Oh and a few patients missed their doctor's appointments because someone deleted it off of the documentation system. Oh and people who are not licensed to give medication are giving them. Oh and you have to travel between various locations with even MORE patients in 8 hours. AND you don't get overtime. Oh and we are out of basic medical suppliles and don't have a sink ¯_(ツ)_/¯ This goes beyond typical "oh I am a new grad who is overwhelmed with all the tasks that I have to do".

“We have members telling us that they are looking have one registered nurse to 30 residents, all the way up to one registered nurse to 150 residents. This is not acceptable.”

Story of my life

I just want to copy and paste the whole article as a quote and write story of my life.

AND if you go on allnurses.com and complain they will call you lazy and entitled and try to one-up you on how much work they have to do and to just endure to build yourself a valid future.
