Ontario woman 'livid' after police allegedly told her to 'call the mayor' during home invasion attempt

I absolutely believe this. In December of 2008 my car was legally parked on Bloor at the Northeast corner of Bloor and Clinton across from Clinton's. While I was inside Clinton's, someone in an SUV going way over the speed limit smashed into my car, and without stopping, turned heading north on Clinton. I know this because several people were out on the patio at Clinton's having a cigarette and saw it happen. Within 15-20 seconds of my car being hit, a police car pulled up alongside the Clinton's patio on the southwest corner of Clinton and Bloor. About 20 people who had just witnessed my car being hit ran over to the police car, told them what had just happened, described the SUV that smashed into my car, told them what direction they went in, and implored them to go after the SUV, as this person was driving like a manic and very likely drunk. The cops just sat there and did nothing. Again I was told this by several people after the fact. My car had been hit so hard it actually pushed the back end about 5 out from the curb, almost into the next lane. When I called the police to report what had happened, the cop on the other end of the line's exact words were: "Oh yeah?? What do you want US to do about it??" I could not fucking believe he said that to me. When I suggested I expected them to do their job, he got even angrier with me. I then relayed the story the witnesses had told me about the police car that had arrived immediately after my car was hit, and the witnesses who had pleaded with those officers to pursue the SUV that had smashed into my car, and how the officers had chosen to ignore them and just sit there doing nothing. The cop on the phone angrily told me to hold on, kept me waiting almost 15 minutes, then came back and said: "That never happened. There was no car in the area at that time". I asked him if he honestly believed that 20 people who were strangers to me and mostly to each had randomly decided to make up this story for my benefit, he actually said that's what must have happened. Unreal. Unfortunately, none of the witnesses thought to get the patrol car's number. My car was written off, and because I didn't know who did it, I had my deductible taken off my insurance settlement. I'll never forget the punched in the face feeling of having the cops flat out tell me the didn't give a shit and it wasn't their problem.
