See this is where you don't get the system in our unit. Many of our fellows have zero cardiology background, so yes a nurse with 20 years experience will often know more.

Obviously our staff physicians and any cardiology fellows we get, know more (we don't just have fellows with cardiology background - in fact most don't it's actually great when we do have one). Although you'd be shocked at the level of expertise our staff have compared to some fellows and residents we get with no cardiology background. A brief look at mock questions for the pediatric exam on cardiology, and yes, many of our experienced nurses will easily answer those questions.
