OP asks former homeless people to tell their experiences. One guy sold all his personals to keep his car. Another guy thinks he's the epitome of first world problems. Drama ensues.

This makes me so fucking angry. Being a step away from homelessness is not the definition of a first world problem. It's how people become homeless. When you're not even managing to live paycheck to paycheck, all it takes is a small stumble to fuck everything up, and correcting that fuckup is many times harder (and more expensive) than preventing it in the first place. But god forbid someone give the guy a kind word for having to fear for his livelihood. Nah, he's not quite pathetic enough--and I feel like the majority of stories of homelessness wouldn't meet that asshole's standards--so better to guilt trip him for not literally starving to death.

I don't even care whether or not he was trolling because there are too many people who think exactly that. If you're not living on the street, eating garbage, freezing to death on a park bench, getting raped in a shelter, or turning tricks for an egg salad sandwich, you're not even worth the time to acknowledge. And if you are one of the ones living in the absolute worst conditions, fuck you anyway, get a job and stop being where we can see you. It's fucking infuriating.

Whatever, I wish I could say I feel better after that rant, but I don't. Blegh.
