Op-Ed: Cool it on the Frost-icles

Hey, credit where its due, Helu, Burkhead, and Ameer thats a hell of a RB lineage. He recruited Burkehead and Ameer. He had some great defenses early on.

But its a fact that from about 2011ish or so on, he had some terribly ranked classes, and his good classes seemed to hit with serious attrition issues.

A 35th and 40th ranked class is bad, straight up. Lets not try and sugarcoat that by arguing that Bo found diamonds in the rough. Consistently good recruiting classes get you to national championships.

It was pretty clear that as his time at Nebraska went on Bo had an increasingly dismissive view of recruiting. He didn't even think it was reasonable to expect decent recruiting classes at Nebraska - something I think Riley and Callahan have no disavowed.

His recruiting classes were sinking and if Bo stayed longer I think we would have seen that get worse.

Mike Riley is at least putting significant effort into recruiting and his classes are getting better, not worse. That counts for something.
