opinion of the sub on Franz Stigler ?

Hi! I’m reading the book, “A Higher Call” which was based off him. And it states that he family was very anti-nazi. He only served in the luftwaffe because the state paid for his pilot lessons. Even the writer of the book confessed to him that he thought Franz was a Nazi, which he replied that nazi pilots were very rare in the luftwaffe. Further into the book. He gets questioned by the Gestapo for being Anti-Nazi, where his Major’s best friend saved him from the gestapo captain and soldier. IIRC, the major’s name was Major Stoffmann. And if i remember correctly. One time the gestapo went to another luftwaffe base requested ground crew to help round up the “undesirables” which the major replied “If anyone here goes with them. I will resign as this base’s wing commander.” Less than 120 pages in I believe.
