Opinions on the best way to leave my band

Thanks for your reply. I hear that, and I just really don't want the band to fail after I leave, someone else who is more willing to live that lifestyle deserves my place and I know it.

By studio musician, I didn't mean session musician, btw. I have my own "successful" "career" as a recording artist, and I've brought in a lot more money in the past year than my band did in it's 8 year tenure thus far (this is NOT about money though, but rather that my passion lies deeply in this project, which is why I believe it's successful) .

The point is, because of my personality, I'd much rather be a moderately successful recording artist than a moderately or even hugely successful touring artist. That lifestyle is just not in the cards for me. It just makes me a lot happier and I can't ignore it for any longer.

I plan to see them very soon and will voice my feelings, but guarantee it will turn into a "you're being selfish and ruining our chance at success" kind of thing. To them it will really seem like it's coming out of nowhere since I don't exactly wear my emotions on my sleeve.
