["Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain": How 'Cursed Child' turned the tide of fans' perception of J.K. Rowling](/spoiler)

This is going to come off as rude but I don't care.

I joined reddit two weeks ago while waiting for Cursed Child. I believe I first saw you during talks about black Hermione. In these two weeks I've had time to join, see how the site worked, join into conversations about BH, get bored with said conversations about BH... And then ultimately get annoyed when I see them brought up time and time again by people with an obvious chip on their shoulder. Also in these two weeks, your username has not only been popping up in THOSE topics, but also every time you got the opportunity to whine about the fandom doing "circlejerks" because they did not share the same opinion as you... You have also defended Rowling just "because", with arguments such as "it's her creation so she can do whatever she wants".

Now... Of course you have every right to write whatever you goddamn please on reddit or anywhere else, and whine about whatever the hell it is you don't like.

But PLEASE, don't act like it's bothersome and "annoying" for fans to want to discuss the actual CANON and CHARACTERS and PLOT of a new story that is advertised and presented as "the eight story". This has FAR more ramifications on the franchise than the stupid skintone of the actors, that you yourself have not had any qualm in debating extensively. Now, if you would rather get into interminable discussions on skintones then fine, be my guest. But don't be a hypocrite and then act like the topics you don't want to discuss are annoying and the people discussing them are "just bitching", when that's a large part of what you yourself are doing here.

Not everyone is happy with the new story. Not everyone is happy with JKR. She is only human and so are we, and after being a fan for so damn long you do get to care about these things - which is why you join into these communities where you can debate with other fans. If you don't care to debate this, then don't get involved. But for goodness' sake, what are you even doing here if all you ever wanna hear is "JKR is Queen!"?
