Peak stupidpol?

What if we went more radically colorblind? People think of the 90s as colorblind, but I'm not sure if it was truly so. We still collected and published racial statistics on every imaginable social measure, and those who talked about race still talked about it all they could, just using so called dog whistles.

What if we could stop acknowledging race altogether? What if we stopped publishing any and all racial data (collecting is ok only if it is kept secret from the masses), discouraged all discussions of race, and so on? At a time like this when people are the least racist, it might be great to try to leave race altogether.

There are drawbacks to this as well; for example, something I could see happening with this kind of legal and societal change is that the "states' rights" movement about Civil War might gain grounds, since people would avoid discussing the race based slavery system.
