Why do people seem to love USB-C so much? Everyone seems to want only those on everything, why?

It's the new USB standard. Compared to prior standards it is smaller than A & B, reversible, has better transfer rates, and caries more power allowing faster charging and more powerful USB powered accessories. That last one is probably why your QI charger is using one, it needed more power to charge at the faster 7.5w or 10w

It is replacing the Micro USB, just like Micro USB replaced Mini USB. Manufacturers are not going to immediately adapt the new standard because their client base already has a lot of micro USB accessories and cables, but it will slowly take the lion's share of the market - same as the gradual change from Mini to Micro.

And people are hoping Apply will adapt to it to unify accessories and cables. I have a Pixel 3 and my wife has an iphone X - we have to have two different cables in each car, and bring them on each trip, and buy two different types of SD readers, etc. Apple has implemented USB C on some of their products in place of the thunderport, so their customer base is just hopeful they will accept the open standards to simplify their user's lives.
