Way back in high school I joined the football team my sophomore year; I was probably the smallest guy on the team and far from the best but I tried my hardest to show I belonged. This story takes place during our two-a-days, middle of summer. In comes Smithy. Smithy was a year older than me, a junior, and definitely one of the biggest d bags I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He would make fun of my size, throw my equipment out of my locker, and try to shame me for messing up a tackle or a dropped pass. I never told anyone about what was going on. However I knew one thing, that I would not quit and let Smithy beat me. During one of our evening summer practices I was having a rough time. This was my first season ever playing football so I was still learning. In between reps in our drills, Smithy would throw a football at me when my back was turned on him; hitting me at the back of the head or my legs. another football smacked my calf, I erupted into a blind rage and got in Smithy's face. I called him a whole slew of bad English, and during the 7 on 7 later I'm going to punch him the throat. It got his attention. I never got the chance to punch him in the throat, but I was able to have the last laugh. He quit after the season, upset to still be jv. I continued to work my butt off and went on to be listed on the varsity roster at the start of my Junior year season.
