Peyton Manning Is No Cam Newton

See that's the thing. These aren't just allegations. There's a mountain of sworn depositions here in favor of Dr.Naughtright that have been entered into the case and accepted as fact. The judge denied Manning's request to dismiss the case, explicitly stating that there's sufficient evidence here to prove malice. Eventually it was settled out of court before it could go to trial.

That's the short version. The long version is that there are three separate cases here.

The first one was regarding the original sexual assault. This settlement is all sealed away and we will likely never see a shred of evidence involved in it. But what we do know is that the only other guy who witnessed the alleged assault, even according to Peyton's version of the story, sides with Dr.Naughtright. He got kicked out of school over this and he still sides by Naughtright.

The second case is when Peyton Manning wrote a book (through a ghostwriter) about the first case and Dr.Naughtright. This book was in violation of a confidentiality agreement that was part of the original settlement. Naughtright never broke that agreement. She never gave interviews. Never said a single word about it. She got a job in Florida State after the original case and moved on with her life. Peyton Manning, however, went after her without provocation. He accused her of being vulgar in the workplace and having sex with black student-athletes. Those allegations (completely unfounded, by the way) cost her her new job and irreparably damaged her career. She can't get a job anywhere else now.

In response to that book, she filed a defamation lawsuit against Peyton Manning. Her counsel conducted depositions and collected sworn testimonies. It is these testimonies that we are now reading as part of this document that recently surfaced. What those testimonies show, pretty conclusively, that the accusations Peyton Manning levied against this woman in his book are false, and that he knew they were false, and therefore acted in malice. In essence, Peyton Manning deliberately broke the terms of the original settlement and assassinated this woman's career with lies.

The third case is when Peyton Manning, after settling the second case with another confidentiality agreement, broke it yet again by talking about her in an interview. And he yet again got slapped with a lawsuit and had to settle that one too.

Now, the specific details of the sexual assault is up in the air. As I said, we're likely never gonna know what actually happened. The evidence and the proceedings are all sealed. But what we do know now, and pretty conclusively, is that Peyton Manning went out of his way to destroy this woman's career. That in itself is a really really fucking shitty thing to do. This would be a non-issue if Peyton just took the original sealed settlement and kept his mouth shut instead of levying bullshit accusations in a book. But he didn't do that. So here we are. And it really makes you question why he would do that if he really was innocent in this whole ordeal? After all, he already got his "win" with the sealed settlement and the confidentiality agreement. Literally NOBODY was talking about this thing until he wrote that book. He's the one who dredged it up again. Not Dr.Naughtright.
