Pick of the Day - 4/6/15 (Monday)

Colorado Rockies @ Milwaukee Brewers

I love Kyle Lohse at home and tend to avoid him on the road unless the matchup is right. In 2014 he had a 2.72 ERA at home and he was 4.12 on the road. Like the rest of the Brewers, last season he started hot and faded down the stretch. He was 4-1 in April and I’m looking for him to have another solid start this season. I also don’t consider Kyle Kendrick an Ace, and think he’s getting the Opening Day start for the Rockies purely because they don’t have anyone better. When he’s faced the players on the Brew Crew’s current roster in his career, he’s let them hit him to a tune of .347; in their careers against Kendrick, Braun is 7/15, Lucroy is 6/12, Ramirez is 4/11, and Gomez is a 4/14. I’m looking for the beef in the Brewers order to dig in on Kendrick. My pick is the Milwaukee Brewers ML @ -166.

Pittsburgh Pirates @ Cincinnati Reds

Cueto was 5-0 with a 1.76 ERA against the Pirates last season. Conversely Liriano is 0-5 with a 4.14 ERA in 9 starts against the Reds, and he is 0-4 with a 5.47 ERA in 5 starts on the road at Great American Ball Park. This game will feel different than a normal regular season game because the Pirates will be out for revenge after Cueto and the Reds relegated them into the wild card game, where they lost to the Giants. Cueto is in a contract year, and he will be looking to put up another monster season to follow-up his banner 20-5 year in 2014. Look for Cueto and the Reds to continue to handle the Bucs and Liriano at home -- My pick is the Cincinnati Reds @ -125.
