Piracy is an invention not a crime.

Merely an extreme comparison to illustrate you're wrong. If you can't see how it relates, there's really no point in arguing any further.

You're right, I don't have anything out there for show, and the things I did have, have been replaced by services with economical growth in mind by others (I used to be a web developer back in the day, and yes, I use Linux as my main OS - I'm one of those people). I'm not an idiot, I understand the benefit of money, doesn't mean I need to hail it as an object of reverence. Money is just a means to an end, and I do good with what little I have.

If people could be content to appreciate life instead of numbers on their bank account, we wouldn't be having these kind of problems to begin with. What is the point of having an excess amount of anything if we won't use it? We live in a wasteful society, and just because I don't agree with your greed, doesn't mean I'll come to change my moral if I end up with an excess of anything. Been there, done that. There's more to living than numbers.

Don't get me wrong though, I buy books, subscriptions and so on. Often times more than once. But only if it's good, I have no desire support something that isn't in my opinion, good. If others wish to support it, that's their call, but I shouldn't have to support what I don't think meets the quota for value. If I could side-step the middlemen/industry and pay directly to the authors/artists/creators, I would pay even more. But yeah, I understand most people don't think like that. They think they deserve recognition, fame, and glory, and a lot of cash on their bank accounts that they won't ever use, or use for something meaningless just to show off and feel more important about themselves, or whatever other reason anyone would ever have to justify their over-consumption, greed, and pointless stuff.
