Playing through RE1 and had to vent a bit

I find the ink ribbons annoying.

I like them in theory but I don't have as much time to play anymore and I like to save regularly - especially in horror games. I don't like panicking that I'm going to run out of ink ribbons at some point and not being if I've made enough progress to warrant saving. Though other aspects of the game - the absurdly limited inventory (one or two extra spaces, please!) - can get tedious and when it becomes tedious, it stops being scary, it stops being fun.

Aren't there also more items in the REmake/REmaster? You'd think they'd account for that.

The first time I played RE was the original version on PC (big box version) and after a while I just got fed up of backtracking purely to switch out items. Then I kept getting cornered by Hunters. UGH. I got so annoyed I used a hex editor to cheat my way through the 'ordinary' parts of the mansion because the puzzles and boss fights (cheats switched off for these) were so much more engaging and interesting.

I kind of wish you could tinker around with melee or objects a bit. There a lot of spears and sharp objects laying around...imagine being able to turns some of those traps back on the monsters or to goad the mindless ones into walking into a row of spears or something. I guess I just miss Clock Tower.

That said REmake and RE4 are my favourites of the series.
