This popped up on my news feed.I deleted her.

You're saying...

(1) Parents who name their kids with unconventional names "leshanadaquana" are morons (2) People with very unconventional names are often alienated from their peers and coworkers (3) Moron parents raise moron children (4) Black people mumble (5) You don't want anyone who mumbles to work in your store

You say (1) because of (2). What if leshanadaquana grows up in a very poor neighborhood, where it's completely normal to have a "black name?" In fact, if they had named her "Antoinette", she would not fit in with her peers - exactly the issue you highlight in (2). Would that mean her parents are still morons?

Do you think that celebrities who name their children "Willow" and "Sun" and "Stars" are morons, with their unconventional names? Or is it about the name being unconventional AND black?

Regarding (4) ... you can't possibly believe that all black people mumble, can you? That is clearly a stereotype. I personally think a shitton of people from the South, especially older people, mumble - regardless of race.

As for (5) - of course you don't want someone who mumbles working for your store. You also don't want someone who is a moron working for your store.

But, by disqualifying leshanadaquana's resume based on her name, you made no attempt to find out if she is a moron or if she mumbles. You just assumed, and she lost the opportunity to even be considered for a job. This is discrimination on the basis of her race. It didn't matter how eloquently she speaks or any of her other job qualifications ... you just assumed that there's no way this could be the case, and disqualified her.

Now, imagine that her parents have unconventional, "black" names. They had the same problem when they were searching for jobs. As a result, their jobs are not very good and they can't afford to move out of the poor neighborhood they live in, where "black" names are normal. So when they have a daughter, they name her leshanadaquana. And there, we have a systemic cycle of oppression...

THAT is what racism is.
