Post-Matchday Thread [Liverpool 5-1 Hull]

Plenty of us were anxious leading up to the match because it would show whether we have the capacity to boss lesser opposition convincingly. A 5-1 crushing victory seems apt to rule out that fear.

Unfortunately, now it looks more like how it really was. Just Hull at home, a win that should be expected. That's not the truth of it, of course, considering how much Liverpool have struggled against weaker opponents in the past, but it somehow feels that way. In fact, 5-1 seems disappointing. We conceded to another set piece given away from a moment of weak defending. 5 goals doesn't even seem like enough. There were so many shots that could have gone in that did not go in. We scored twice off of penalties. We only scored from open competition three times against a 10-man side. Our GD is still lower than Arsenal's.

It's rather silly to be disappointed by a 5-1 victory against exactly the kind of side that we need to beat, but that's just how I feel.

Still, 3 points over the weekend, currently 4th in the league, no longer below fucking Everton or United. 13 points from 18 in the past 6 games. Won every game in September, scoring 14 goals and conceding 3. Not bad at all.
