Postgame reaction thread: Rangers @ Caps 4/11/15

Only got a chance to really watch the first two periods. From what I saw, we definitely looked a lot better today than we did against OTT. It was kind of interesting because, at least in the first period, you could tell both teams were playing a bit "gingerly". I mean, compared to our last game with them, it was nowhere near as physical; though things picked up a bit more in the second.

Few other things:

  • At least from what I saw, it seems like Hank has been a bit "floppy". He looked a bit frazzled at times, occasionally losing his footing on saves. It seems like this started happening after the one OTT player fell on his knee, but hopefully that isn't anything related and rather, were random occurrences. That said, I'm still grateful we were able to squeeze him in for these last few games, as well, he could keep his ~30 game win streak!

  • D. Moore has been looking great as of late. He does so much (and is probably the only reason why our FO% isn't at -800% :'D) so it's always nice to see him score some goals. And again, both Hayes and Miller have been doing really well. I'm very curious to see how they'll perform in the Playoffs.

  • PPG!! I know our PP has been pretty poor this whole season, but honestly, I think it's been looking much better as of late. I guess during the NJD you would have figured we could convert more than 1/6...but at the very least, we can kind of set up/sustain pressure a lot better now.

  • Speaking of which, Caps PP is pretty damn impressive. I have no idea how they do it, but they always seem to find a way to have Ovi open on that left point. Somehow, they pull the opposing team all over to the right side and Ovi is just...there. I wasn't really surprised when he scored though, given all of his stats thus far. While impressive, it's still a bit frustrating...

Overall, it seemed like a solid game. And as excited I am for the win, I think my mind is just on the BOS/Pens games right now. Very, very, anxious to see who we will play...!
