Poverty linked to childhood depression, changes in brain connectivity

You may be right but think about it this way, your family is poor as fuck, they are not the brightest and they are doing all they can to provide for the family. Now they are busy all day and don't have time for you. Add a family abuse and shit into the mix or divorce or whatever and you are good to go! You as a little kid are afraid to lose home because mother don't have money, you are hungry in the morning because she is in the hurry and forget about breakfast and the fridge is almost empty, you get used to it and simply stop eating in the morning, your clothes are shit so you get picked on in the school, you get bullied every day and are angry and afraid of school so you gang up with the worst of your class to compensate. Now you have shit company too! Your time after school that you should spend doing homework and learning shit is rather spent worrying about your parents because they are fighting all the time, you thing about losing your parents, add a bit of drinking and you are set! Your eyesight is getting worse but you dont want to trouble your family because they dont have money so you just stop reading from board in the class and find another thing to do, like make trouble. One of your parents commits suicide. Your family don't have money to get you to college and honestly no one thinks about it because you always sucked in the school.

Now you could theoretically think about hard work, dedication and improving yourself but you simply don't have time to even get that idea because of your constant fear of school(bullying), home (fighting), being out (shit company).

I am not trying to say that it is impossible, just that it sometimes takes more than just work, time, dedication. You either need luck to meet someone special who has a significant impact on the way you see life or another parents.
