What was a time someone assumed something about you that was completely wrong?

Worked on a cruise ship and my home ship was my home town. I was doing the muster drill where we have to direct the passengers to listen to a quick safety briefing about what happens in case of an emergency. The passengers started asking me where I was from, and I was like 'I'm from here'. They wouldn't believe me. I pointed to my name tag which lists your country of origin, in the US, it lists your state. I had my state on my badge. They look at me and say, 'bullshit, you can tell us where you're from its ok.'

I just kind of had a small brain break. Like what do you say when someone is trying to convince you the truth about yourself is a lie. In retrospect, I should've said Scotland since I was one of like five people on the ship who could translate for the poor Scottish girl dancer with a thick accent.
