The entire first movie is about upper middle class folks getting butchered because they saved a black homeless man, its the central struggle because the villains don't see the white family as any different from the black man they were chasing because to them it's not white and black, it's rich and poor or us and them.

It's tribalism not racism that's the motivator of the movie. The entire propaganda of the film is that tribalism is bad, the breakdown of the social contract is bad, obligatory "Stop killing people you twats" message.
