After eight years of Obama keeping Putin under his thumb

Lol what? While Obama was in office Putin entered Syria, thereby thwarting Obama's/Israel's desire for regime change there, and Putin annexed Crimea...all on Obama's watch. How is that keeping him under this thumb as you put it?

The Crimean peninsula was annexed from Ukraine by the Russian Federation in February–March 2014

Then, in 2016 President Trump stood by as Putin manipulated the election.

Even if Russia manipulated the election to the point that trump won dude to Russian influence, and no one has shown definitive proof of that, what was he supposed to do to stop it as a candidate? I sure as hell didn't vote for Trump but this line of reasoning seems the opposite of reason.
