Here's my ten cents.
The series was pretty inaccurate in certain aspects. This is too bad that it came from the CBC, and had Trudeau's face on it. However, I expected so. I've been watching docudramas for a while, and I'm not suprised. It was hyped as some eye opening film... yet it was just a docudrama. They did get some things right, but a lot wrong. Especially the native and French contributions. I can understand how people may feel miffed, but at the end of the day, no matter how justifiably angry you may feel, it is a show. One that has to fit 150 years of history in 10 45 minute episodes. I don't like how they glossed over important things, but there are still 8 more episodes. Call me naive, but there's still a lot to cover. I think that Champlain could have had some more screen time. The comparisons of this b rate film to Soviet propoganda is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. They will likely cover the conscription crisis and other important issues. But, remember....it's the CBC. Who expects much from them?
I admit to being a naive teenage optimist.
